The Orchestre Métropolitain Premieres the Montreal Video Game Symphony

The Montreal Video Game Symphony is a multimedia event that combines the power of the symphony orchestra with the immersive and interactive world of gaming. In order to produce a large-scale event that reflects the vitality of Montreal’s video game industry, music from video games developed in Montreal will be performed for a large audience by the Orchestre Métropolitain and conductor Dina Gilbert. The event will take place on September 29th 2017, at the Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier, as part of the City of Montreal’s 375thanniversary.

The concert will be a high-octane multimedia event. In synchronization with the orchestra, there will be big-screen projections of video game sequences. At certain moments, to add an interactive dimension to the concert, someone from the audience will be invited to come play a game live on stage. Their performance will be projected on the big screen and will be accompanied simultaneously by the orchestra. The hosts of the concert are Stéphanie Harvey (missharvey) and Jasmin Hains.

The composer Maxime Goulet is the initiator, the designer and the artistic coordinator of the The Montreal Video Game Symphony. The main arranger is Benoit Groulx. The project is produced by the Orchestre Métropolitain and is developed in collaboration with Alliance numérique.
